Apologies for the non-posting today. Boy left to go back to Germany for the holidays. Missing him like crazy already :/

Hope you all have a great weekend and that you’re starting to prepare for some sort of holiday season or break time. I’m going to enjoy this weekend bumming around Savannah for one of the first times since I’ve moved here with no real plans. Kind of exciting.

Is it lazy to have a post dedicated to sitting around and eating? I don’t think so if it’s about doing it in this space, with these healthy treats! This painting is amazing and inspiring; I wish I could bring one into my home! Paired with the couch, and that dog…lovely. Sitting around in this space eating these frozen greek yogurt covered strawberries seems like perfection in my mind. One day, I’ll get there.

I’m incredibly excited about featuring one of my very good friends on here! Melanie Sloan, a fellow classmate just completed this project for her Print Studio II class here at SCAD.

Here is what Melanie says about the project:

“There are things about ourselves that we love and there are things about ourselves that we hate. Sometimes we discover these to be one and the same. I hope that by posing the simple, encouraging phrase “If You Are _____ Be” that people might find themselves in a moment of self-reflection. I hope those who have traits they struggle with might find a way to claim them and exclaim them, and that those who are at peace with themselves might take a moment to celebrate. If you are quiet, passionate, stubborn, eccentric, loud, confident, gentle, rigid, etc., BE quiet, passionate stubborn, eccentric, loud, confident, gentle, etc.!”

While in the car the other day, driving to the doctors, she handed me this lovely print she’d been working on. She created 200, and passed them out all over Savannah as little one of a kind treasures for people to find. Each one is different and was screen printed at home by Melanie. It’s a nice reminder to be introspective and learn to love who and what you are. It’s ok, just BE it. I had mine in bed with me yesterday, and I kept reciting my new mantra: if you are sick, be sick. If this sickness is teaching me anything it’s that my body knows best and I really need to stop pretending to be OK and pushing through things. If I am sick, I need to be sick, and take care of myself. Something as simple as that can go a lot way, and I love that this project can bring these small revelations out of people. Way to go Melanie!

Taking in the last of summer at Forsyth park with Marc. We had picnic; pear and gorgonzola salad with homemade red wine vinaigrette, and pimento cheese sandwiches (my landlord Betty’s recipe to come Friday!). There was even a bit of frisbee involved. Tonight the building is having a low country boil in the courtyard! I have no idea what that will entail, but I’m sure it will be an experience. My contribution: a jug of sangria, and more pimento cheese spread. I swear this spread will be the death of me, it’s practically all I’ve eaten since yesterday! Sooooo good!

Just a little inside look to the amazing displays that were about on Thursday night for Savannah’s rendition of Fashion’s Night Out. Lots of unique window displays and fun giveaways. My favorite was the cotton candy at the Paris Market. There, all the girls were dressed up in a way that almost looked like a more glittery and colorful version of Versailles. Two thumbs up from me!
